Hit & Miss Clay Shooting Event September 2011

Brilliant sunshine started our last shoot of the season beautifully. Then, add a large mixture of bold, enthusiastic and cheery gentlemen, some of whom had not shot before, (two token ladies) and before you know it, you have a fabulously entertaining day.

As usual, the instructors: Alfie, Alan & Harold took the teams for a 30 clay practice over 5 stands. The “rabbit” as usual managed to out manoeuvre most of us with the exception of Sukh Majhail from RBS, who somehow managed to keep ahead and take out the fast shifting clay. John Worsfold made sure nothing escaped him, doubling up with a quick second shot to ensure the clay was in fact dead! His contagious laugh and sparkle rubbing off on all of us.

After a well earned coffee break, the teams embarked on the 50 clay competition. Breeze’s Brigadiers looked promising as did Brian’s Gunners. However, it was Michelle’s Musketeers who stole the show with Mark Tweddie  taking the coveted Top Gun Trophy and the team awarded the “Top Team” prize.

Gillian from WKSS put on a superb lamb shank lunch followed by scrumptious hot apple crumble with lashings of custard. What a treat!
