HIP! HIP!... Hurry!

With only a matter of weeks to go until the introduction of Home Information Packs (HIPs) the property market is bracing itself for its biggest shake-up for a very long time.

Mostly, you will have to provide similar information as you would provide today, but it needs to be in advance of your property going onto the open market. There are a few new items to be provided such as the Energy Performance Certificate.

1^st June 2007 is the deadline. If you put your property 'on the market' before then, you will not be required to provide your Buyer with a HIP.

You can still choose to do this·..after all, the idea is to make the whole selling process more efficient and likely to proceed.

There are some who still doubt the workability of HIPs and there are many in the legal and estate agency professions taking the ostrich approach by burying their head in the sand.
