Probate

We have many years experience in dealing with the administration of estates

The assets of the deceased need to be ascertained and as the beneficiaries wish, sold or transferred to them. We understand that this is a very difficult time and we have frequently eased the minds of those who have been very worried about the amount of paperwork they think they will have to work on when they are really not feeling up to it.

wills

We can take all the documents relating to the deceased assets, make the enquiries and complete all the Inland Revenue Forms and application forms on your behalf. This can be done at a meeting or through the post.

You will receive a package of completed forms to sign with full explanations, or you can sign them at a meeting. We will then transfer or sell assets as the beneficiaries direct and provide full accounts.

We can advise you on Deeds of Variation (of the Will) which can assist in Inheritance Tax Planning.

If the assets are outside the UK, then the English Grant will often need to be re-sealed in the other jurisdiction.

We have experience of dealing with Spain, France, Gibraltar, India, Hong Kong, New York State and Italy.

We have a number of international lawyer contacts and on several occasions we have been asked to act on the Estate of a deceased, who died resident and domiciled outside the United Kingdom. In these cases, we have obtained an English Grant of Probate for the foreign representatives.

Arguments about wills

We have challenged and defended wills. We have made and defended claims on the Estate by disappointed relatives and mistresses under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants ) Act 1975.
