Judicial review  is a procedure where a decision or an action by a public body is subject to review by a Judge to determine the lawfulness of an enactment or a decision, action or failure to act in relation to the exercise of a public function.

Judicial review may only be used where there is no right of appeal or when all avenues of appeal have been exhausted.

There are very strict time limits for bringing an action for Judicial review, as well as process that must be followed, and all claims must be made within 3 months of when the grounds for the first claim arose.
