Solicitors, Licensed Conveyancers and Legal Executives

solicitor

Yes, we are looking to recruit you – we have a unique business model. It has enabled us to grow from 14 of us in 2009 to about 40 of us (see  “Our Team”) ... …in that short space of time

This expansion has enabled us to cover more legal areas and give us more depth in our traditional areas

We are looking to recruit if you are

  • are computer – confident in Word, Excel, Google Docs, Skype, LinkedIn
  • (conveyancers only)  willing to learn to use our ConveyLink case management software
  • lucky enough to have some following
  • willing to work on commission
  • living  in London and the Home Counties
  •  have a reasonable home / office set up

You become our employee (this is not self employment !)  but are remunerated by the following percentages of the gross fees received (by the time that holiday pay is added)

  • 70% on work introduced by you
  • 50% on work introduced by us/ your co-workers but dealt with by you
  • 15% of work introduced by you but dealt with by your co-workers

We agree two lists of expenses

  • “Yours” which you bear out of your commission  - whatever you want to spend on marketing/ advertising yourself,  PC fee,  CPD etc
  • “Ours” which we pay …………..PII premiums (although there is provision for adjustment should this rocket - surprise news, it just went down substantially for 2011-2012 ) etc.

To make the whole thing worthwhile (for both parties), you should be confident of building quite quickly to billings of about £60,000 - £100,000 pa

If you are ambitious and wants to build up a department, so much the better. You can build up your “firm within a firm” and thereby increase your billings (although paying for any extra staff out of your "cut")

Whom will it suit?

The position will suit someone who

  • can work alone, but appreciate a team spirit / telephone support
  • has decided what area of law they want to do, has worked in that area for a while…..so as to have contacts / potential clients/ introducers of work and wants to earn more than he or she can do on a straight salary in a "regular" job
  • Is already thinking about setting up his or her own firm. This arrangement provides comfort and time can be spent on developing the law specialty / client base rather than on admin
  • Is tired of wasting x hours a day commuting to London or elsewhere;
  • Is fed up playing politics in a larger firm;
  • Is a senior employee in a larger firm, who feels over worked / under paid ………... no matter how hard you work, the rewards are no better
  • Feels “ ham strung” by big firm mentality
  • Is more interested in getting a work / life balance …………assuming your  area of law allows that flexibility
  • Has interests outside law and wants to work part time
  • Does not want to be tied to targets of x billable hours a year
